Starting Up - Overview

Purpose

The purpose of Starting Up a Project a project process is to ensure that the prerequisites for initiating a project are in place by answering the question - do we have a viable and worthwhile project?

The purpose of the Starting up is as much about preventing poorly concieved projects from ever being initiated as it is about approving the initiation of viable project.

to be able to provide base information for the Project Board so they can decide if the project is viable and worthwhile. If it is then they will be able to commission the project. It provides a foundation for the detailed planning to be carried out in Initiating a Project.
